Get Ready to Raise the Roof!
February 28, 2023
Support our campaign to build more houses!
Are you ready to raise the roof? On Saturday, February 11th, we launched our $100,000 Raise the Roof Campaign as part of our ongoing effort to combat the increased cost of building a home in our program. This year-long fundraiser will help us begin construction for qualified families in our program and we need you!
Three years removed from the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are still dealing with near crippling setbacks-- increased prices for both labor and materials, however we are committed, more than ever to providing housing for low-income families in our community who, alongside some 80,000 Alabamians, are living in substandard housing. We know that that is a huge undertaking, but for nearly 30 years volunteers and donors have offset growing homebuilding prices and we trust that you will continue doing what you have always done.
Because you share our vision of creating a world where everyone has a decent place to live, we confidently charge forward helping homeowners achieve stability and self-reliance, for not just themselves, but for their families for generations to come. The cost of building a home in our program has skyrocketed to over $100,000, so your support is critical. If we continue work together, everyone who gets sleepy at night in Calhoun and Cleburne counties, will have a decent place to lay their heads.
Become a member of our $100 Club. The idea is simple--if 1,000 supporters donate $100 each, we will raise $100,000! But whether you donate $5 or $5,000, every dollar gets us one step closer to "raising the roof" for a family in need. This is a unique opportunity to come together with members of our community and make a huge impact on the lives of others!

This past weekend, Teachers Unlimited, a group of dedicated teachers who wanted to make a difference not just in the classroom, but on the worksite, joined the inspiring Women Build fundraising and build event. Led by Calhoun Cleburne Habitat for Humanity Board Member, Joy Wright, these selfless educators traded textbooks for hammers to lend their skills to constructing safe and affordable housing for the recipients of these two homes. "I am delighted to support Calhoun Cleburne Habitat for Humanity, both as a community member and board member," Wright shared. "Our mission to build homes, communities, and hope is a wonderful goal." Their hard work and enthusiasm will not only help two families in need of safe, decent and affordable housing, but also showcases the incredible strength and diverse talents of women in our community. These homes are being built in partnership with Alabama Associations of Habitat for Humanity Affiliates through their allocation of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. Thanks and their support for Habitat for Humanity affiliates throughout Alabama, we are able to continue our mission and provide improve the quality of life for families in our community.

Calhoun Cleburne Habitat for Humanity swung into action this past weekend, kicking off our exciting Women Build initiative with a symbolic wall raising. This new build and fundraising event carries the weight of not just one, but two dreams – those of the Allen and Davis families, who will soon call this quiet community home. The wall raising ceremony marks a crucial milestone in the construction journey. It is a powerful symbol of progress, signifying the transition from a foundation of hope to a tangible structure that will soon become a home and for the Allen and Davis families. As the walls rose, the significance of what such a life-changing journey this will be for these families became clear-- a future bright with stability and security. More than just bricks and mortar, this home represents a sanctuary for their children to grow and a place where their dreams can flourish. Let's raise the walls of hope together!
